Is it a snapshot, a vernacular photograph, a human expression or perhaps a form of social documentation?
What happens to the meaning or value of an image when we change the words we use to describe it?
I used to make pictures in public spaces all the time, it was my training ground, but in recent years I had become too self-conscious.
Remembering just how fascinated and amused I am by the way people show up when they’re not performing for the camera, I took the plunge and started to photograph in public again.
I love the shapes people make, they seem to reveal a small part of their life. Each person, after all, holds an entire universe within them.
These images are a peek into my sketch book. I’m experimenting with processes working out how to communicate what I see.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, please share them here or email me.
Happy Monday to you

So beautiful.
Absolutely love the natural photography..I feel you catch those special moments in a unique way and let our imagination do the rest ..
Beautiful! I love the girl in the tutu-style dress – I wonder where she’s going? Wherever it is, I’m so glad she’s doing it like that! The dog peering into the lens too – and the cuddly toys placed so purposefully on the car. Joyful!
I’d imagine that you could create a story about each of these Louise with your magic pen !!
I love those photos- they sum up
A British summer time mood I feel
Thanks Josie! British summer is certainly eclectic.
Lovely! I particularly like some of the pairings: the first 2 images with their sunlit diffraction, and the 2 above Holland Park tube station, where the legs in the first one lead into the legs of the 2nd, both against defocused cobblestones. I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks so much for your appreciation Adam – I love your observations there !
We all see from our own perspective and I love hearing how images speak differently to each person
These are so beautiful Moose and some have a journalistic feel to them too. Xx
Wow, just amazing..
You have such a particular style, capturing innocence and joy. Mindful observations.
These are great Moose. There’s something so compelling about them. I could look at them for hours….
I love the joy and warmth you have managed to capture in your photos, I lovely reminder of the warmer weather.
I look forward to next ones.
