For a long time I have wanted to share my old pre digital photos with you, this is not how I imagined it would happen.
I just had to get this out of my system. Yes of course I am making pictures which are about seeing beauty in this mad time and yes I am looking for the light at the end of the tunnel but I have to acknowledge this shadow side too, and this is what happened. This work is ongoing and I’ve been asked if they are for sale, not decided yet.
These portraits were shot in the and 90’s on black and white film, printed myself in my own darkroom ( in the bathroom ) and this year 2020 I’ve added the masks also at home ( in my bedroom ) totally by hand like the printing.
Could this have been how portraits would have looked if we had suffered the Covid19 back then? Will the portraits of today look like this?
I’m so curious as to what you have been doing at home, have you felt under pressure to create, scared, in a block, high on no pressure… ummm ??? l0VE to you all xxx be safe.
Wow, amazing, important work, Moose — beauty and terror. So very human xxx
Thank you for sharing your 90’s Portraits reimagined for Covid-19 in 2020. The masks give your beautiful ethereal photographs a nightmare-like dystopian realism that feels both current and futuristic.
Interesting photos, thank you xx
Amazing Moose. So beautiful. You are are a true artist. Lots of love xxx
Aw thanks for all your support always Meg xxx
Thank you for sharing these with us Moose.
I love how visual artists have such a powerful and important way of narrating social history in a way that words just cant capture.
Your photos offer different perspectives and allow room for me to empathise with the subjects lives and to reflect more deeply on my own, and that can only be a good thing.
Loving the extraordinary ordinariness of your work. I’d love to see more from the old days too! It feels like a good time for reminiscence and reexamining values and progress.
Thank you!
What a thoughtful ‘review’ Indi thank you so much XXX
